It’s been an exciting seven months since we launched the SiteFloat business. And we have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic clients who were willing to take a chance with “the new guys”. Originally the soul focus was on providing for attractive, affordable and functional websites for small and medium sized businesses. Businesses that want to go online and with the professional look and exposure they need to survive in the digital world.

We’ve also been busy running another site (you may have seen on our portfolio) called GCBands. As the name suggests, It’s a website for the Gold Coast music community to get together and talk about all things Gold Coast music related. We don’t make any money from GCBands. Infact, GCBands is like my personal blackhole for time and money, but we don’t intend on charging people to use it. We do it for a love, a love of live music and life here on the Gold Coast.

Over the past few months we have smashed our passions for design, technology and music together, and today, we’re announcing a new project that’s a natural extension of SiteFloat, SiteFloat Creative – Websites For Bands. It’s our attempt to re-ignite the creative individual spark band websites need, while also creating a platform performers can understand, control and love.

For the record, our SiteFloat Creative websites will be built on the world class opensource content management system called WordPress. We have been working with WordPress for years now and over that time we have developed a deep understanding and love for how it works, yes… I know, it’s sad, we love a piece of software…

The point of the story is, that without destroying all that is good about WordPress, we are customising it and creating a new and exciting experience specifically designed for live performers and music venues. That’s right, we’re not just reserving the system for bands and solo artists alone, we’re definitely open to using it for festivals, comedians, choirs, orchestras, nightclubs and live music venues etc.

Behind the scenes we still have some work left to do, and we’re definitely going to need a lot of coffee, but from today we are officially opening the door to new customers and giving them special beta version prices. Pioneer my friends, go first.

Check it out here: www.sitefloat.com/creative

I realise that many of you already know why you need a website in 2010 and I don’t intend on preaching to the choir in this post, so please ignore me now if that’s you. This is for those of you who are a little newer to the idea of doing business online.

The internet has changed the way we do business. It used to be that people would drive to a store to learn about a product or look though a phone book to find a local service, but over the past few years there has been major advances in searching locally online and all that extra work is becoming a thing of the past.

The Internet allows people to research and compare products, prices and business practices. In 2010 people are turning to the internet search results first. It doesn’t matter if you’re a one-man show or a corporate giant; if you don’t have a website, you’re losing business to other companies that do.

The internet has leveled the playing field when it comes to competing with big business. With a well-designed website, your operation can easily project the image and professionalism of a much larger company. Your site speaks volumes about your business. It either says, “Hey, look, we take our business so seriously that we have created this wonderful and convenient site for our customers!” or it bloats out, “Hey, look, I let my 10-year-old nephew design my website. Good luck using it!”.

Your website is an important part of your business, and this is where SiteFloat can help. If you need to find out more about giving your business a professional online presence, please contact us now.

Hello, World! Welcome to the new website! We are busy working with new clients at the moment so we don’t have time to write a best selling novel… But I guess we just wanted to say thank you for checking out the site and sorry it’s a bit rough around the edges at the moment. Make sure you come and check back with us soon as we are working hard on getting the site up to scratch!
